Waymo is the self-driving technology company with a mission to make it safe and easy for people and things to move around. Building on software and sensor technology developed at Google, Waymo is now launching the world’s first fully self-driving transportation service that will take members of the public from A to B at the touch of a button.
The perception team at Waymo makes sense of the world, relying on a diverse suite of sensors. We apply cutting-edge technologies and machine learning to tackle the long tail of situations found in the real-world: detection / classification across many types of objects, sensor fusion, segmentation, tracking and time sequences, etc. This involves not only processing the raw sensor data, but also creating data representations for the learning tasks, building ML models to detect/classify objects, and integrating the ML components into the production perception pipeline and make a real impact. The entire perception stack runs in real-time and in a computationally constrained environment (the car).
We are looking for software engineers who are passionate about applying computer vision techniques to self-driving cars, and have an incessant drive to improve the performance of our technology stack. You’ll need to enjoy tuning your solutions to a fine tuned level of performance and help preserve the overall safety of our systems. You’ll be working with a creative team of engineers who solve similar challenging problems and help advance the state of the art of the self-driving perception system.
