Waymo is the self-driving technology company with a mission to make it safe and easy for people and things to move around. Building on software and sensor technology developed at Google, Waymo is now launching the world’s first fully self-driving transportation service that will take members of the public from A to B at the touch of a button.

The Automotive Partnerships team develops relationships within the automotive OEM ecosystem that align with Waymo’s objective to deliver our self-driving technology across multiple business opportunities. As a member of this team, you will have a significant impact on defining and executing on partnerships with tremendous potential impact on Waymo’s future.

In this role, you’ll:

  • Develop partnership strategy (including evaluation of licensing, joint venture, and other transaction types) based on research, expertise and a deep understanding of Waymo’s business goals and priorities.

  • Oversee financial analysis and modeling, deal structuring and negotiations.

  • Lead agreement negotiations with partners, including cross-functional project management and internal preparation.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, legal, business operations, marketing, and finance to support partnership development and management.

  • Build consensus for recommendations with internal teams and executives.

At a minimum we’d like you to have: 

  • 15+ years in business development and corporate development roles

  • Deep experience with financial analysis and modeling, corporate and legal due diligence, deal structuring (licensing, joint venture, and other transaction types) and negotiations.

  • Proven ability to handle ambiguity, work collaboratively with internal and partner contacts, and influence cross-functional teams.

  • Strong analytical and reasoning skills with regard to technical, contractual and financial issues; impeccable business judgment with excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • High degree of comfort communicating with and influencing senior executives.

  • Candidate will possess strong management skills along with the ability to roll up sleeves and act as high performing individual contributor. 

  • Experience negotiating unique and creative partnership agreements, with significant technical, legal and commercial complexity

It’s preferred if you have:

  • MBA or graduate degree in a management, technical, or engineering field

  • Experience negotiating unique and creative partnership agreements, with significant technical, legal and commercial complexity

  • Automotive OEM or Tier 1 experience is a plus.
