Waymo is the self-driving technology company with a mission to make it safe and easy for people and things to move around. Building on software and sensor technology developed at Google, Waymo is now launching the world’s first fully self-driving transportation service that will take members of the public from A to B at the touch of a button.
Hardware Engineering is a diverse, innovative, and collaborative group of electrical, mechanical, reliability, software and vehicle engineers. We design, build, and perfect the products which are the eyes and ears of Waymo's self-driving systems, and integrate those products into vehicle platforms. We're seeking curious and talented teammates to keep us moving in the right direction.
In this mechanical engineer role, you'll:
- Design, prototype, test, debug, and deploy robust, reliable hardware for the self-driving system
Ensure product requirements are met from design, reliability, cost, quality, and DFx
Own and usher products from pre-concept to MP, TTQV, and to EOL
Provide technical leadership to cross-functional teams by understanding the perspective of all the stakeholders and involving them in critical decisions
Act as point of contact and expert with a holistic view of the product, engineering disciplines, and technical goals
We'd like you to have:
- BA/BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering, Electro-Mechanical Engineering, Optical Engineering, related field, or equivalent experience
- 10 years of combined experience in design and manufacturing
- Experience with products from concept to mass production with constraints around DFM, Cost, Yields, Quality, etc
- Experience in automotive or consumer electronics hardware
