    • Can teens ride without a Waymo teen account?

No. Riders aged 14-17 must have a teen account linked to a guardian’s to ride with Waymo. Riders 13 and under, and those without a teen account, can only ride with an adult.

    • What is the age limit for teen accounts?

Teens must be 14-17 years old to set up a Waymo teen account.

    • Where can teens take rides?

Waymo teen accounts are currently only available in our Metro Phoenix territory, and they can ride anywhere within this service area. If they travel to another service area, they’ll need to have an adult with them.

    • What does a teen need to set up an account?

Teens will need a Google email account and a smartphone (such as iPhone or Android) to use the Waymo app. Phones specifically built for teens and kids (for example, Gabb) do not work with the Waymo app.

    • What’s the “Can’t access this service” error?

This shows for Google Workspace for Education users who are under 18 and for children under 13 (or the age of consent in your country).

If the account holder is 13 or older they can update their settings to gain access.

    • Can teens bring guests on their rides?

Teens are allowed guests ages 14 and up. Up to 4 total passengers can ride in any seat but the driver’s seat.

    • How do teens pay for their rides?

When setting up a teen account, you’ll be asked to add a credit card. Prepaid debit cards and gift cards with credit card logos will not work in our service.

    • Can a parent or guardian monitor a teen’s trip?

Teens can share their trips with parents and guardians. During an active trip, swipe up and tap the Share Trip button to send trip progress. Parents will also get receipts for any trips or fees the teen incurs on their account.

    • What happens if an issue arises during a teen’s trip?

In the case something goes wrong during a teen’s trip, our Rider Support team will contact the teen and maintain continuous support until the issue is resolved. Rider Support may also contact the parent linked on the teen’s account via a three-way call. If needed, we’ll hail another Waymo ride for your teen to ensure their trip is completed.

    • Are there any special rules for teens?

Teens riding with Waymo must abide by our rider rules. That means always buckle up, no touching the driving controls, no smoking or vaping, and no pets (other than service animals), just to name a few.

Become familiar with our rules (as well as sections 27 and 28 of our Terms of Service) before riding to avoid any fees or losing access to the service.

    • How many teens can a parent link to their account?

You can add up to 5 teens on one person’s account.

    • How can I shorten walks to pickup?

Select “Minimize walking time” (under Account > Accessibility). Note: Even with this selected you may have to walk a few minutes to your pickup spot or destination in some cases.
