Singapore, Next Stop: Bringing Scalable, Safe Autonomous Mobility to the Lion City

Singapore has long stood at the forefront of global innovation—a city where visionary infrastructure, world-class public transport, and a commitment to sustainability shape everyday life.
Today, we are proud to announce our next chapter in global expansion: Waymo is coming to Singapore.
In partnership with the Ministry of Transport (MOT) and the Land Transport Authority (LTA), we are laying the foundation to introduce our fully autonomous, all-electric commercial ride-hailing service to Singapore via the Waymo app in 2028.
This is an exciting moment in our global growth and comes after serving more than 20 million fully autonomous rides, driving more than 300 million fully autonomous kilometres, and demonstrating a 94% reduction in injury-causing crashes compared to human drivers in the U.S. cities where we operate fully autonomously.

A Deliberate, Phased Roadmap
Bringing fully autonomous technology to any city requires rigor, patience, regulatory approvals alongside extensive engagement and collaboration. We are applying the same methodical, safety-first framework that has guided our growth across the United States, and as we work to launch in Tokyo, London, and Munich.
In the coming months: Our initial fleet of all-electric Jaguar I-PACE vehicles will arrive in Singapore as we establish our local operations.
Readiness phase in 2027: Trained autonomous specialists will conduct initial manual driving, adapting the Waymo Driver to local road geometry, monsoon weather patterns, and more.
Public Commercial Launch in 2028: We intend to open our fully autonomous ride-hailing service to riders in Singapore through the Waymo app.
Powering Singapore’s Green Future
Waymo will complement Singapore’s public transit network, showing how autonomous mobility strengthens the broader transport fabric.
First- and Last-Mile Connectivity: In our existing commercial service territories, many riders enjoy using Waymo to connect to mass transit, including more than a third of riders in San Francisco who are picked up or dropped off near transit stations. We aim to bridge first-and-last-mile transit gaps across residential and commercial hubs.
Zero Direct Emissions: Our 100% electric fleet directly supports the Singapore Green Plan 2030, helping lower urban carbon emissions while reducing reliance on private car ownership. At our current scale our fleet prevents an estimated 480 metric tonnes of carbon dioxide from road travel every week.
Active Mobility Protection: Our custom sensor suite of lidar, radar, and cameras provides a 360-degree view that detects and predicts the movements of pedestrians, cyclists, and active mobility users, designed to ensure cautious, predictable interactions on dense urban streets.
