How self-driving cars can reduce distracted driving from traffic safety advocate Barbara Hoffman
On June 3, Barbara Hoffman, executive director of Red Means Stop Traffic Safety Alliance, was featured in an article published by The East Valley Tribune discussing how distracted driving can have tragic consequences.

“Fourteen years ago my son, Michael, was heading back to his dad's house and a man ran a red light, hit Michael, and Michael died at the scene,” said Barbara Hoffman.
Red Means Stop is a traffic safety education and advocacy organization specifically focused on raising awareness about the dangers of running red lights.
Barbara now devotes her life to keeping people safe on the road, including educating young people on distracted driving. Human error is a factor in 94% of all traffic crashes and Barbara believes technology could offer a solution.
“If people refuse to stop all these bad driving behaviors, then we should take into consideration what technology can offer today,” she says.
