How do I get a Waymo ride on the Uber app?
You may get matched with a Waymo car if you’re in Waymo’s service territories. Simply request an Uber ride (an UberX, Uber Green, Uber Comfort, or Uber Comfort Electric) like you normally would, and keep an eye out on your confirmation screen; you’ll get a pop-up if you’ve been matched with a nearby Waymo. Click “Accept ride,” then wait for a fully autonomous Waymo car to pick you up.
-
Where can I get a Waymo ride on the Uber app?
Waymo will soon serve riders exclusively on the Uber app in Austin and Atlanta. Stay tuned for our service areas.
-
Why haven’t I been matched with Waymo on the Uber app yet?
The Waymo fleet will only serve a limited territory in Austin and Atlanta, and prioritizes ride requests that are close by to an available Waymo vehicle. That said, we aren’t able to guarantee Waymo rides on the Uber app every time.
-
Do I have to tip if I’ve been matched with a Waymo car?
Nope. Fully autonomous rides with Waymo don’t require tipping.
-
What kind of cars can I expect?
The Waymo fleet consists of the all-electric Jaguar I-PACE.
-
What happens if I forget something in the car?
We’re happy to help you out! In your Uber app, click “Activity” on the lower tab of the homescreen. Find your Waymo trip and tap “Ride Details” then the “Customer Support” button to call or message someone from the Uber support team.
-
How long will the Waymo car wait for me?
Riders have seven minutes to board their Waymo car. However, if a rider has reached one of our vehicles but needs extra time to get settled before starting their trip, it will wait. Waymo’s Rider Support team may call in to ask if the rider needs additional assistance.
-
How many people can ride in a Waymo car?
Waymo cars can currently accommodate up to 4 riders (in any seat but the driver’s seat!).
-
Can I ride with an animal?
Some passengers may have allergies, so leave pets at home out of respect to future riders. Service animals are always welcome in Waymo cars.
-
How do I know which car is my ride?
Your Waymo car will display your initials on its rooftop dome so that you can easily identify it at pickup. Unlock the car in the Uber app and hop in!
-
Can I use the trunk?
Yes you can! Use the button in the Uber app to open the trunk, or unlock the Waymo car from the app then press the trunk release button above the license plate.
-
Are there cameras and microphones in the car?
Microphones inside the car are not active unless Wayom’s Rider Support team is called during a ride. The cameras in the vehicle allow Waymo to make sure your ride goes smoothly. Among other things, they allow Waymo to make sure cars are clean, find lost items, provide help in emergencies, and make sure in-car rules are followed.
