Today – on Transit Equity Day – Waymo is kicking off a transit credit pilot program in Los Angeles.

Waymo’s mission to be the world’s most trusted driver is directly tied to creating safer, more sustainable streets – for everyone. By helping to bridge the gap to other clean forms of transportation and expanding electric vehicle access, we’re hoping to play a crucial part in making sustainable transportation more convenient and affordable.

Following a successful transit credit pilot program in San Francisco, we’re excited to launch a two-month program in Los Angeles in which riders who connect to any of our eight eligible transit stations will receive a $3.00 credit the following day on their Waymo account, which can be applied toward future Waymo rides within 60 days of the date of issuance.

The program will run from February 4 - April 1, 2025, and is specifically geared toward helping Angelenos travel more sustainably and conveniently to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), and includes bus stops that are frequently used by LAX travelers.

Similar to the San Francisco pilot, Waymo will gain learnings from the program about how people use Waymo as a first/last mile option to help inform future transit integrations that aim to make regular public transit use more accessible.

Waymo is proud to offer a zero-emission ride that’s powered by renewable energy. With more than 150,000 paid rides served each week, we’re now preventing over 220 tons of carbon emissions weekly, while helping the cities we operate in reach their climate goals. Reducing transportation emissions is essential in improving local air quality and decreasing carbon outputs, and Waymo’s shared mobility model – one that empowers people to elect for cleaner modes of mobility, like walking, biking, public transit, and all-electric autonomous ride hailing – is a tangible way in which communities can work together to build greener communities.

If you’re not yet a Waymo One rider, simply download the Waymo One app to start hailing rides to eligible stations today. For more information on Waymo’s sustainability work, head to waymo.com/sustainability.
