Starting today, anyone in Houston can download the Waymo app and hail a fully autonomous ride. Since opening our service in February, we’ve welcomed more than 100,000 riders in Houston from our interest list to experience the safety, reliability, and magic of Waymo, and now we’re offering our service to everyone.

We’ve proudly helped Houstonians run errands, commute to work, and celebrate nights out with friends. Houston played host to over 1 million visitors for the World Cup, and we served as a premier way for many of them to travel to and from games at Reliant Stadium and celebrate responsibly throughout the city.

The Houston community has embraced Waymo as a vital resource for expanding accessible and reliable transportation options across the region. Raul Gallegos, First Vice President of the National Federation for the Blind of Texas shared, “The National Federation of the Blind of Texas is happy to hear the news that Waymo will be fully available in Houston. This means better independence and greater accessibility for blind riders. We can hail with confidence that we will have the same reliable Waymo Driver, who is happy to welcome us and our guide dogs.”
