Nashville families, your transportation routine just got a lot easier. Starting today, teens ages 13-17 can hail fully autonomous Waymo rides across 50 square miles of Nashville when linked to a parent or guardian's account.

Following a successful launch in Phoenix, Waymo teen accounts continue to provide much-desired independence for teens—giving them the freedom to get to school, sports, and extracurriculars, and giving busy parents their time back. Teen accounts also offer parents peace of mind with specially-trained Rider Support agents, trip status sharing, and automatic ride receipts.

We recently offered early access to select teens in Nashville to hear directly from locals how Waymo rides may simplify their busy lives. Nashville teen, Asher Huffman, shared, “I really enjoyed being able to hail a ride home from a concert without having to bother my parents, and I even got to show Waymo off to my friend. Getting to play my music as loud as I want, with no one else in the car, was also awesome. Kind of like I was in my own little bubble.”

Asher’s mom, Amy Huffman, agreed and shared, “It was a huge help to our family. Whether my son was staying late at school or going to a concert downtown, I didn’t have to worry about how he was going to get home or rearrange my own plans to pick him up. It gave him more independence and took a real burden off of us as parents.”

Access to safe transportation doesn’t just lighten the parental load, it can also unlock opportunity. We partnered with the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Valley and the Legacy Institute to study the impact that access to reliable Waymo rides had on their summer internship experience. Access to Waymo for commuting cut reported stress in half from 86% down to 43%.
