A sustainable way to move

Our fully autonomous, all-electric fleet provides a zero-emission ride for everyone—serving our goal of empowering people to move safely and sustainably. We're building a future of sustainable transportation, one community at a time, by expanding electric vehicle access and supporting walkable, bikeable, and transit-oriented neighborhoods.

Electric vehicle access for all

Shared electric transportation

Waymo's shared fully electric fleet connects more people with zero-emission vehicles. Whether someone can’t afford a personal vehicle, chooses not to own one, or is unable to drive, Waymo makes electric vehicle travel an accessible option for a wider range of people.

We’ve provided access to electric vehicles to hundreds of thousands of riders, and have served millions of fully electric autonomous trips.

  • 150K+

    EV trips per week

Waymo One is delivering more than 150K fully autonomous EV (electric vehicle) trips per week, helping communities reach their clean air and climate goals.

  • 220+ tons

    prevented CO₂ weekly

With every 150K EV trips, Waymo One prevents an estimated 220 tons of CO2 emissions – and we’re just getting started. 1

  • 36%

of SF riders connected to public transit

Survey data indicate that about 36% of SF riders have used Waymo One to connect to other forms of transit, like BART, Muni, or CalTrain.

Waymo developed a first-of-its-kind Avoided Emissions Methodology to quantify emissions averted by our shared, autonomous, electric vehicle service. Our methodology pulls from the latest industry standards and best practices to inform our riders, partners, and stakeholders about the environmental benefits of shared electric mobility.

Waymo partners with Alphabet in reporting greenhouse gas emissions under Alphabet's consolidated annual carbon reporting, which can be found here in the most recent annual Environmental Report.

We’ve doubled down on our commitment to clean mobility by ensuring our all-electric fleet is powered by clean energy. Waymo sources renewable energy whenever possible by collaborating with local utilities and community choice energy programs filling gaps with high quality Renewable Energy Certificates.

  • Cyclist

    Cyclist safety

We give bikers ample space on the roads, and our Safe Exit features let our riders know when a biker is approaching to ensure they look twice before opening the door.

  • 360 degrees

    Unmatched visibility

Our vehicles “see” 360 degrees and up to 3 football fields away—day or night, rain or shine. They can see a pedestrian crossing the street 2 blocks away or a cyclist approaching from behind.

  • No texting, no impaired abilities

    Never Tired, Never Distracted™

Waymo vehicles are designed to follow the speed limit and never lose their cool with other road users or drivers. They’re never tired, never drunk, and never distracted.

    Partnering for sustainable movement

We partner with organizations to increase access to electrified mobility, improve air quality, and make roads safe for pedestrians and cyclists.
